DescriptionThe site of the sawmill is now occupied by the boatyard.
Event and Historical Information:
OS 2nd edition mapping surveyed in 1900 and published in 1901 shows the long drying shed alongside the railway line and three other buildings occupying the site. In November 1912, the saw mill owner requested permission from the Railway Company to extend the drying shed. The Company instructed their solicitor not to accept less than £50 rental per annum an acre and to reserve the right to reposess the land for the extension of siding facilities if needed (Green 1993).
