Description

Royal Commission drought aerial reconnaissance, on 4th July 2018, discovered cropmarks of various ditches and potential enclosures in fields west of Pont Llanafan.

1. Fragmentary cropmarks of uncertain date and character were recorded centered on SN 6844 7150 to the east Dol-gwibedyn farm (Frame: AP_2018_2695), and also to the south of this farm on the river bend centered at SN 6817 7131 (Frame: AP_2018_2694).

2. Further cropmarks apparently representing old braided trackways ascending a hill from the river crossing were recorded south-west of Pont Llanafan at SN 6851 7123 (Frame: AP_2018_2696).

These cropmarks may prove worthy of further investigation.
