Description

CHERISH Project aerial photography for the Royal Commission on 4th July 2018, during the 2018 drought, discovered parchmarks of a univallate defended enclosure or small hillfort on a prominent coastal knoll overlooking Aberaeron.

The oval hillfort is defined by a single ditch, and measures approx, 115m south-west to north-east. It is sited at 80m O.D. and overlooks precipitous coastal slopes down to the sea on the north side, now cut by the main coast road. It lies 150m west of the Pant-teg hillslope enclosure (NPRN 400839). Image refs: AP_2018_2083 & 2086.
