Description

Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 11th July 2018, during the 2018 drought, revealed parchmarks in dry grass of a triple-ditched oval defended enclosure, sited on a bluff at the head of a steep slope west of Rhydymaen farm.

The enclosure measures approximately 130m across, and has a broad inner ditch, and up to two lines of narrow outer ditches on the west (upslope) side where the slope is weaker. These narrow ditches have the appearance of palisade trenches. The enclosure lies just 130m east of a pair of large ring ditches or barrows, also recorded from aerial photography (NPRN 421340).
