Description

A section of the Roman road RR69d, running between Lampeter and Llanio Roman fort, was recorded as a parchmark in pasture during Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance in the 2018 drought. The line of the road is fossilised by an extant hedgebank running north-east of Pentre Farm. Imagery on the 9th July 2018 recorded additional evidence for two rectangular ditched enclosures on the north-west side of the hedge bank/road line, together with a surfaced side road diverging west to the north of these enclosures.

The implication is that there are traces of a Romano-British roadside settlement in these fields, which would repay geophysical survey in the future. Image refs: AP_2018_3254-58.

Recorded during Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance in the 2018 drought and in 1995.
