Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 12th July 2013 recorded cropmarks of a pair of ditches in fields at Penlon, running for some 168m north-west to south-east. The ditches are regular and perfectly parallel until their south-east end where they turn in a 'playing card' curving corner close to the road. No features are visible in this location on historic 19th century mapping. The ditches appear freshly marked and therefore may be of recent origin. However, the single curved corner may suggest an older, perhaps Roman date. Recorded on frames AP_2013_2963-65.
