Description
A terraced road 140m in length, runs down to a quay (NPRN 409293) at the southern tip of Flimston Castles promontory. The raod runs through the interior of Flimston Bay Camp promontory fort (NPRN 94227); it is gently curving and has been terraced into the coastal slope and for the final 65m cut into limestone cliff. The road is 8m wide and is depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey of 1865. Among other uses it is said to have transported limestone down to the quay from a nearby quarry (NPRN 409291) which was then taken by boat to a lime kiln at Stackpole Quay (NPRN 40732).
