Description
Site of defended enclosure. Aerial reconnaisance in 2004 showed parchmarks (refs: AP_2004_065-6) as two darker lines encircling the summit of this sand hill, resulting either from a bivallate defence or from a single bank with an outer ditch and a dark mark around the inner, upper face of the rampart where the soil is deeper. This evidence is consistent with that on the ground which shows a distinct scarp terrace encircling the summit of the hill when viewed from the eastern or western approaches.
