Type Of SiteDEFENDED ENCLOSURE
PeriodPrehistoric
DescriptionThis enclosure is set upon a low terrace above the flood plain of the Teifi. It has been suggested that the existing earthwork enclosure on this site, thought to be medieval in date, made use of an earlier, prehistoric defended enclosure. The current earthwork measures some 60m across, and is defined by a bank and ditch with a west-facing entrance. Recent geophysical survey and trenching indicate that a substancial building, possibly the former medieval Llanfair Chapel (NPRN 400351), stood within the enclosure.
