DescriptionThe cropmark of the Roman military enclosure known as Walton Roman Camp III, is rectangular with rounded angles, c.170m by 147m, the westermost of three camps (see Nprn94006 & 306332). It was first identified in 1967 (St Joseph 1969, 121; 1973, 239-40).
The enclosure, together with Camp II (Nprn306332), cuts a circular ditched prehistoric enclosure (NPRN 401217).
