This pit was probably working before 1748 and was certainly deepened in 1770. It may have had a water-engine. A steam windin-engine was probably installed by Lockwood and Company c. 1800-06 and fed by water from a minor tributary of the upper Nant Rhyd-y-Filais. Closed 1926 (Hughes, 'Copperopolis', p. 297).
