No 29, High Street (formerly The Talbot public house, now The Forum Cafe) is a mid-17th century, 2 ? storey and basement, former timber-framed structure, on a deep plot, which extends to Back row. It has two rooms to the front (shop and hall) and two at the rear (parlour & kitchen), all in-line, flanking a central stair. Its roof line consists of 3 central in-line bays, sealed at each end by a parallel street bay. The ground-plan incorporates a timber jetty beam supported on a colonnaded front with set-back ca 1900 replacement timber-frame shop front. Inside there was a side-passage, from front to rear, leading to the central stair with yard. There are lateral fireplaces to hall and kitchen.
A superbly carpentered central well stair, which rises to the attic-floor has carved & pierced flat balusters and carved newels with finials and pendants. The central roof-trusses have an interrupted tie-beam, incorporating space for a side-passage at attic-floor. There are axial chamfered ceiling-beams which have ogee stops throughout. A fireplace to the hall has an ovolo moulded lintel and the attic's east walls have close-studded timber framing.
