DescriptionThe barn, with an attached byre, at Great House Farmstead (nprn 401576) probably dates to the later eighteenth century. It is constructed of rubble stone, with an iron roof and a weather-boarded gable apex. A tall narrow doorway on the yard side is flanked by two square pitching openings below the eaves. The interior shows much evidence of rebuilding and re-use of timbers; there are two roof trusses with extended tie-beam ends.
