Rose Cottage was originally a simple single-storey structure, it was modified in the seventeeenth-century with the insertion of fireplaces creating a hall and a parlour. Further work was carried out in the eighteenth-century with the construction of a stair giving access to a new upper floor, and an extension to the west.
