Brymbo lead smelting works is shown on the 1873 Ordnance Survey 25in map, annotated as 'Brymbo Smelt Works'; on the 1899 map it is marked 'Carbon Works' and on the 1912 map is shown as disused. The nearby chimney known as the 'Brymbo Bottle' (nprn 85318) is associated with the site.
