This seems to have been an important and unusual cruck-framed hallhouse with box-framed ends and close-studded walls. The medieval plan is fragmentary. However, the chimney seems to have been inserted into the passage against (S.) the pasage-end cruck-truss. The post embedded in the N. face of the chimney may have defined the entrance into the hall.
