Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 11th July 2018 recorded cropmarks of what appeared to be a bivallate rectangular enclosure, approx. 50m across and aligned NW/SE. The enclosure has a similar morphology to later prehistoric and medieval defended enclosures, but also Roman villas. However, comparison with C19th historic Ordnance Survey mapping shows there has been considerable landscape change here in the last century, with the re-alignment of the main road and removal of a number of field banks. Therefore the cropmarks seem more likely to represent the lines of former field enclosures.
