Royal Commission aerial photographs on 9th July 2018, during the 2018 drought, showed cropmarks and earthworks of a likely deserted rural settlement to the north of Llys Athro and Pontrhydfendigaid school. Cropmarks show parched marks of buried stony footings of a rectangular building, and ancillary structures, set into a pronounced hollow in the hillside adjacent to the modern road. The hollow is a likely building platform on which a cottage or similar building of medieval or post medieval date was constructed. All surface traces are now vanished and the pasture has been regularly cultivated.
