Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 9th July 2018 recorded several cropmarks and parchmarks in the vicinity of Abbey Cwmhir. In the vicinity of Wenallt Barn, part of a large double-ditched enclosure with a sharp-angled ditch was recorded at SO 0491 7100, to the north of the minor brook which runs past the farm. Between the modern farm barns and bungalows further rectangular parchmarks were recorded which may represent the footings of large buildings or walled enclosures. However, given their potential scale it is equally possible that the rectangular parchmarks have a more mundane origin from drainage or agriculture.

Discovered during the 2018 drought.
