DisgrifiadThe mounting platform is Grade II listed, considered an interesting survival of group value with the St Martin and All Angels Church (NPRN 308940). Evidently to facilitate mounting a horse, but undatable. Said to have been used until c.1920.
It consists of a square platform about 1.1m in height, with six steps, all in rubble masonry. The top consists mostly of a single large slab. Roughly built and oddly positioned away from and at an angle to the churchyard wall. Adjaecnt is a set of iron rings set in the adjacent wall for tethering horses.
