DisgrifiadThe mausoleum was designed by Henry Kennedy for the Assheton-Smith family in the later 19th century. It is surrounded by iron railings and chamfered stone piers with iron gates. The roof is banded with plain and fish-scale slate and the walls are built of snecked rubble and freestone dressings. The style of the building is early French Gothic with an octagonal belltower beside the gabled main entrance.
