DisgrifiadThe landing ground is situated to the south of Flimston village and was formerly the home of anti-aircraft target towing aircraft between 1937 and the start of the war. The airstrip was augmented by 3 Bessonau hangars to house Westland Wallaces, DH60 Moths and DH89 Dominies (later Battles, Henleys and Lysanders). The hangars were placed in the northwest corner of the field with a tented camp forsoldiers from the Territorial Army, Royal Horse Artillery. During the war,a series of trenches were built to prevent the use of the airstrip by the enemy.
