Disgrifiad
Rhyd-Ddu is a small village, on the Afon Gwyrfai, at the base of Snowdon, three miles north of Beddgelert. The village was largely built in the 19th century to house the workers and their families from the nearby slate quarries. The Welsh Highland Railway (NPRN: 91420) calls at Rhyd-Ddu and there is also the Rhyd-Ddu path, offering walkers one of the many routes to the summit of Snowdon. The poet and author T H Parry-Williams was born and brought up in Rhyd-Ddu, and the village remains a popular location for visitors to Snowdonia.
