DisgrifiadThis was the mill site associated with Tintern Abbey, founded 1131. It was originally a corn mill, but may have become a woollen mill until the suppression of the Abbey in 1536. It returned to use as a wire-drawing mill c1570, but during the 1820s it once more became a corn mill. Later it became a saw mill, and now survives as the Wye Valley Centre, with shops, a cafe and restaurant. The mill harnessed the power of the Angiddy Brook immediately above its confluence with the River Wye.
