This was one of two inclines by which the tramway from the upper workings reached Level 9, which became the main working area of the quarry after 1871. The upper incline falls 42 metres on a gradient of 1 in 2.8. The walls of the drum house survive, and the route from Level 3 joins the tramway from Level 4 adit (NPRN 408860) immediately south of the incline top.
