DisgrifiadThe southern of two towers set at the outer corners of the forecourt to Old Gwernyfed mansion (NPRN 405974).
A circular two stage tower. The walls are of rubble sandstone under a conical slate roof. The two storeys have separate entrances, both with Tudor-style doorcases. The upper storey is reached by a stair, originally roofed, rising behind the north-east forecourt wall. The tower is lit by two light windows. The upper storey has ten tiers of nesting boxes for doves.
The tower may originally have been a Tudor structure situated rather the north, before being re-sited and raised to its present height in the period 1600-1650.
