The Rheola Brook Cast Iron Aqueduct was built in the 1830's with a cast iron trough and panelled sides. It is the most elaborate of the three cast-iron aqueducts that carried streams over the Neath Canal. Like those at Aberpergwm and Resolven, it was probably cast at Neath Abbey ironworks. The two side panels have eleven Tuscan columns cast into them and the deck of the trough is cast in eight plates fixed together by bolts through their surrounding flanges.
