Dolgun Blast Furnace was planned by Abraham Darby I in1713 in conjunction with the strong local Quaker community. The charcoal-fuelled furnace was worked from 1719 until circa 1770 and it was last referred to in an advertisement in 1802. Excavations by the Snowdonia National Park Study Centre have shown that the interior of the furnace has survived, which is unusual.
