DisgrifiadThe origins of Sygun copper mine are uncertain, however, it is known that the mine was being worked in the eighteenth century. Following closure in 1903, the plant and machinery were recovered for use elsewhere. In the mid-1980s, considerable quantities of rubble were removed from the former underground workings, headroom was raised to improve access, drainage and walkways improved and staircases erected. The site is a remarkable example of how Wales? precious industrial heritage can be transformed into a tourist attraction.
