2. This scheduled Early Bronze Age round cairn measures approximately 12m diameter, and is sited on the west facing slopes of a tract of upland moorland at 420m O.D., overlooking the headwaters of the Nant Bran. The stony cairn mass has suffered heavily from artillery impacts in the past, as has the surrounding moorland.
Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 20th August 2024 identified a conspicuous setting of three boulders lying some 250m north-west of Garn Wen at SN 9321 4094. The boulders are unusual in the landscape and are closely grouped. They may be a natural cluster of rocks, or the remains of a prehistoric stone setting. Due to their location in a live firing Impact Area the setting has not yet been inspected on the ground.
