Built by Thomas Bellott, one time Sheriff of Denbighshire, in 1572, at the weir (NPRN 34412) supplying Rossett and Marford Mills.

A sluice recorded on the 2nd and 3rd edition O.S Maps on the southern side of the weir may be the channel for the water wheel.
