In ancient woodland, a D-shaped ditch fed by a spring surrounds a platform measuring about 50m (NE-SW) by 23 (NW-SE) with a height of 1.8m on the NW. The lower SE side of the moat is a straight pond-like feature 8m wide fed by the spring, but elsewhere it has largely silted up. From each end broad ditches arc to form the curve of the 'D' shape at the centre of which is a causeway, 8m wide and 1m high above the silted ditch, giving access to the platform. The moat is 1.4m deep on the NE, 1.25m on the SE and 1.2m on the SW.
The moat is located in ancient woodland and close measurement is inhibited by dense overgrowth.
