Description
Just discernible seaweed caught in the apex of the 'V' of the walls, this fishtrap was is one of three identified by RCAHMW staff during aerial reconnaissance in 2009. It is located slightly further to the northwest of NPRN 405381 (Oxwich Bay Fish Trap 1) and NPRN 518873 (Oxwich Bay Fish Trap 3). It probably consists of the remains of a series of posts, infilled with stones or seaweed. It may represent a rebuilding of the same fishtrap in a slightly different alignment and position. It is possible that this group of fish traps is associated with the medieval church of St Illtyd's (NPRN 51619) .
